Downtown Ely sits at the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, the most visited wilderness in the United States. Outfitters, galleries, cafés and local shops line Sheridan Street, and visitors pass through all year on their way to and from the lakes.
Ely grew up as an iron mining town in the late 1880s, and many of its original brick and frame storefronts still stand along Sheridan Street. We’re working to keep that character alive, one building at a time.
Paddlers and anglers fill downtown in summer, fall brings color to the North Woods, and winter means dog sledding, cross-country trails and the Ely Winter Festival.
Why Ely
Our mission is to renovate and lease properties to create vibrant communities. We invest in downtown Ely with a long-term perspective and work with entrepreneurs, restaurants, artists and professionals to find a space that helps their business thrive.
